From a difficult history to a new chapter
Danzig Street became nationally known following the July 16, 2012 shooting that left 25 people injured and resulted in two deaths. In the aftermath, Toronto staff and dedicated residents came together to foster community-led initiatives focused on children, youth, education, employment, and grassroots community development.
The narrative can change
Danzig is more than a headline. It is a neighbourhood of families, volunteers, workers, parents, youth, elders, and community builders. Danzig Community Development Program is committed to helping create a new chapter — one defined by service, opportunity, food security, safety, participation, and community pride.
We don't ignore the history. We build from it.
